How do I earn Cap Breakers?
If you reach level 40 before the current season ends, you'll get a +1 Cap Breaker! Plus, if you first started playing NBA 2K25 in the current season, you will also receive an additional one-time catch-up +1 Cap Breaker for any previous Level 40 Cap Breakers that you missed after the first season.
For example: If you start playing NBA 2K25 in season 7 and hit 40, you will get five +1 Cap Breakers to represent the five seasons of them that you missed. And since you hit level 40 in Season 7, you'll get one from that season, for a total of six +1 Cap Breakers!
What if I don't hit 40 the first season I play?
This is where things can get a little confusing. Catch-up Cap Breakers only apply to unplayed seasons, starting the first time you log in to NBA 2K25.
If your first login is in Season 5, but you don't hit 40, then in Season 6 you put in the extra effort and do, you'll get Cap Breakers for the seasons you missed (2 through 4) and one for the season you hit 40, but you won't get one for that missed attempt in Season 5 - for a total of four Cap Breakers.
Keep in mind that any time you play and miss the goal of level 40, that season doesn't count for your one-time catch-up when you finally get it. An example of that would be starting in Season 5, missing 40, trying again in Season 6, missing 40 again, and then finally hitting 40 in Season 7 - congratulations! You'd get your catch-up Cap Breakers in Season 7, covering missed seasons 2 through 4, then no cap breaker for Season 5 or 6, and one for Season 7's level 40 for a total of four Cap Breakers.
Where are Cap Breakers awarded?
In each Season, when the Cap Breaker is unlocked, you'll need to go in and claim it from the Season Pass menu. We recommend claiming them as soon as you earn them!
Then to use it, head to the Nav menu, choose Progression, Attributes, and then click - usually with the right stick if you're using a controller.
What does a Cap Breaker do?
When you've hit the ceiling for an attribute (the cap) these let you bust right through! They're only earned through Season Pass levels or Affiliation REP milestones - so use them carefully.
Can I move my Cap Breakers?
Cap Breakers are a permanent change to your attribute, they cannot be adjusted once you have applied them to that MyPLAYER save. Since these Cap Breakers are attached to your account, you can spend them differently on your other saves, though.
