NBA 2K26: Crossplay and Cross Gen FAQ

As NBA 2K26 arrives on the court for multiple platforms, you may be wondering just what progress may be carried over from Past Gen to New Gen consoles. Check out the common questions below for some more information!

How does Cross Gen or Dual Entitlement work for NBA 2K26?

It depends on the platform you are purchasing for:

PlayStation or XBOX

Cross gen is the default for all digital versions of the Standard Edition on PlayStation or XBOX. When you order any Standard digital edition for PlayStation or XBOX you will receive keys for: 

  • NBA 2K26 for PlayStation 4 and NBA 2K26 for PlayStation 5
  • NBA 2K26 for XBOX One and NBA 2K26 for XBOX Series X|S

For physical purchases of the Standard Edition, a redemption code for the accompanying digital copy will be included in the game box.

Nintendo Switch and PC

There is no cross gen entitlement for Switch or PC.

NOTE: The additional VC for the Superstar Edition or Leave No Doubt Edition is only awarded once - since your wallet is shared between the PlayStation 4 and 5 or the XBOX One and X|S you can access it from either platform.

Will there be Cross Gen progression?

Cross Gen progression returns for MyTEAM along with a Shared VC Wallet for consoles within the same console family (PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, XBOX One and XBOX Series X|S, or Switch and Switch 2). 

Cross-Progression for MyTEAM enables all MyTEAM Points, cards, and progress to be shared across both versions of NBA 2K26 on generations of consoles in the same console family. Similarly, the Shared VC Wallet means any earned or purchased VC is accessible across generations of consoles in the same console family.

What consoles and modes are included for NBA 2K26's crossplay?

PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S are available for crossplay in NBA 2K26, and any online game mode can enjoy this cross platform multiplayer between the two systems!

How will crossplay affect matchmaking?

Crossplay will enable even shorter queue times as it will have a larger pool of participants to choose from for your match.

What about the leaderboards?

For PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S, players of both platforms will be displayed around the city. Additionally, PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S will be able to see the rankings of Switch 2 players on the leaderboards, but will be unable to crossplay with Switch 2 players.

Can I communicate with players on different platforms using voice chat?

With crossplay enabled, players on PlayStation 5 and XBOX Series X|S will be able to communicate in-game using voice chat.

Does crossplay mean my MyCAREER and MyTEAM progress are shared across platforms on my own account?

NBA 2K26 does not support cross-platform progression, only cross-platform multiplayer.
