Teen Account FAQ

Q: I have a full NBA 2K Account, why do I need to update my settings to access game content?

A: 2K follows region-specific guidelines in relation to providing an age-appropriate game experience for younger gamers.

For players who are not old enough to create a full NBA 2K Account themselves, we support creating a NBA 2K Child Account which gives parents and guardians of younger players control over which in-game features or modes their child is allowed to access.

For players who are old enough to create a full NBA 2K Account but are under 18, we may disable certain features by default but allow the player to make changes to control their own access.

Q: How do I update my NBA 2K Account settings?

A: If you try to access a disabled feature, you will be prompted in-game to update your account. Take the following steps to update your account:

The settings menu can be accessed via "Features" on the main loading page of NBA 2K, or via "Parental Permissions" in the Settings menu within the NBA 2K HQ app.

Q: What settings can I change on my account?

A: Examples of these settings include:

  • Online Multiplayer Play: Play online with other players.
  • In-Game Store: Access the in-game store to purchase virtual currency and digital goods.
  • User-Generated Content Sharing: Allow creation and sharing of custom in-game content. This includes allowing upload of Face Scans through the NBA 2K HQ app.
  • Voice Chat: Join voice chat with other players in NBA 2K.
  • Text Chat: Send and receive text messages within the NBA 2K app.
